This year we have a change of venue. The Donegal Person of the Year 2011 Award Night will be held in the ALL  NEW 1000 seater Conference Room in The Regency Hotel, Whitehall, Dublin. Situated just three kilometres from Dublin Airport it is the ideal venue for all those travelling from Donegal. The proprieter of the Regency Hotel is Kilmacrennan-born Jim Mc Gettigan and he has always been a great supporter of the Donegal Association. As a  recipient of The Donegal Persona of the Year 2003, Jim will be there to ensure that everything will 'all right on the night'.

Annual Christmas Party

The 8th December meant only two things – the beginning of the Christmas shopping spree and The Donegal Association Annual Christmas Party.

As usual a large crowd gathered in Foley's Lounge, Merrion Row, Dublin for the Annual Christmas Party of the Donegal Association. Even though it was cold outside, there was a warm and vibrant atmosphere there for all the guests who attended.

Pictured here are some members of the Association committee who partied the night away, bottom row, left to right, Joe Bonner, Martin Mc Gettigan, Finian Ward and Emmet Mc Cauley. Back row, left to right, Charlie Mc Ginley, Niamh Walsh, Hugh Mc Groddy, Kathleen Sheerin, Sorcha Ni Dhomhnaill, Marian Caffrey, Peggy Stringer, Hugh Harkin, Liam Mc Dermott and Tony Dunleavy.

Also in attendance were former Donegal Persons of the Year, Jim Mc Gettigan and John Carr. Joe Mc Hugh arrived with his fellow TD from Cavan, Joe O' Reilly and some friends from Donegal. Joe Mc Hugh is a great friend of the Donegal Association and he was very busy during the evening posing for pictures with many of the guests.

John Glynn, General Manager of the Regency Hotel was there to offer his best wishes to all. John, who is well-known in hotel circles, also managed The Burlington and Citywest Hotels during his illustrious career and is looking forward to The Donegal Person of The Year Award Night in The Regency Hotel next March.

MC for the evening was Liam Mc Dermott and he invited both the Cathaoirleach Sorcha Ni Dhomhnaill and President Tony Dunleavy on stage to say a few words. They thanked everybody for coming and wished all present to enjoy the party.

Delicious refreshments were supplied by the Foley family and Isobel was on hand all evening to ensure that everybody enjoyed themselves. A wine reception was held on arrival and great music and dancing  was provided by Michael Campbell and Ciaran Hamill. Extra entertainment was provided when Finian Ward, Martin Mc Gettigan and Noel Slevin rendered their party pieces.
